Dr. Jeff Voth

Dr. Jeff Voth

Associate Professor of Practical Ministry, Undergraduate College of Theology and Ministry

Dr. Voth’s greatest desire is for a fire to be kindled in every student’s heart to pursue the call God has on his/her life and use the information gleaned in his classes to pursue and fulfill that call.

Dr. Voth grew up primarily in Colorado before arriving in Oklahoma to attend ORU in the fall of 1980.  Graduation from ORU in 1984 earned him a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies with an emphasis in Youth Ministry.  From 1984 until current, he has served and lead in the local church as a youth pastor, associate pastor and senior/lead pastor as well as served and lead with Youth For Christ (para church organization).  Learning has always been an intense passion of his.  He has continued his learning and education path receiving a Doctorate of Ministry-Leadership in Community Spiritual Formation from Denver Seminary in 2011, a Master of Divinity from Oral Roberts University in 2006 and a Master of Arts with an emphasis in Philosophy, Apologetics & Christian Worldview from Trinity Theological Seminary in 2002.

He has written three books that evolved out of his personal walk with Christ, his in-depth study and actual project of his dissertation for his Doctoral Degree; Cavetime, The Sling & Defending the Feminine Heart.  He is the founder and director of an international men’s ministry, Cavetime, that teaches and challenges men to practice 5 disciplines in their daily lives.  He was selected into the Resident Scholars Program at the Kilns (home of C.S. Lewis) to do research at the Weston and Bodleian Libraries in Oxford England.  This great privilege brought much amazement and excitement as Dr. Voth experienced God’s gift-giving heart on a daily basis during his stay.

Dr. Voth is married to Lori, his wife of 33 years, whom he met on his ORU sister wing the first week of school in 1980.  They have 3 sons & 1 daughter, 1 son in law, 1 daughter in law and 2 grandchildren.  When he is not preparing and studying for his weekly sermons, class discussions and presentations, you will find him with his family; eating, laughing, singing, traveling, backpacking, hunting and just hanging out.  He continues to write works of fiction and non-fiction. Two things heard often from him are “I am livin’ the dream” & “I want to die with my boots on.”

He has had the privilege to be on staff at ORU beginning as an RA and Head RA in his student years, as an Adjunct Professor from 2010-2016 and his current status, Associate Professor of Practical Theology. Dr. Voth believes his call is to merge the foundational academics of unwavering truths with the power of the practical aspects of ministry.
