Charles Zwick, Jr.

Assistant Professor of Communication, Arts and Media Emeritus

As a former ORU student, Charles Zwick earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in Communications in 1971. As a student, Zwick gained valuable experience as a board operator/announcer for KORU-FM 103.3 He holds a Third Class FCC radio license. He also assisted in numerous ORU educational television productions and completed an extensive television production internship at WYAH-TV, Portsmouth, Virginia.

After graduation, he moved on to Atlanta to WHAE-TV Channel 46, an affiliate of the Christian Broadcasting Network as Production Manager, Director and Lighting Director for over 200 network shows and 200 local programs.   His directorial credits include “The 700 Club,” “Warren Roberts Presents,” “The George & Diane Ivey Show”, “Teach In” and “The George & Diane Ivey Christmas Special.”  He also was involved in regional commercial work for J.C. Penney, and Hoover. He was also a production coordinator for regional consumer marketing research meetings for Sears.

Moving forward with is education, Zwick returned to ORU to begin his teaching career in 1976 while finishing a Master of Arts in Mass Communication degree at Texas Tech University in 1979.

Since arriving in Tulsa, Zwick has performed corporate television consultancies for MAPCO Gas Products and Buckeye Gas Company.  On the ministry side, he consulted Park Plaza Church of Christ on their television facility, John Stockard Ministries in Loveland, Colorado and Hermann Reifla Ministry in Altenstieg, Germany.

While teaching at ORU for nearly 40 years, his academic productions include: “Telenews,” “At Issue,” “Campus Conversations,” “ORU Weekend,” “The Loop”, “The ORU Show”, “ORU Basketball Preview Show”, “The Sports Guys” and “Middle East Update.”  Courses he has taught include:  Audio Fundamentals, Advanced Audio Production, Producing and Directing, Field Production/Editing, TV/Film Lighting, Advanced TV Production, Advanced Field Production, Production Experiences Workshop: Newsgathering and Production, TV Production Analysis, Film Production Techniques, Technical Problems in TV Production, and Senior Research Project.
Since 1988 Zwick has served on the Official Church Board at The Assembly in Broken Arrow.  He has produced and directed, “Beautiful and Special”, “Target Jamaica”, and “Harvest 2000” videos for the church.  In addition since 1994, he has served, together with his wife Becky, as an administrative and presenting couple for Assemblies of God Marriage Encounter and the Assemblies of God Engaged Encounter spanning a total of over 50 weekends.

Charles Zwick has been named to “Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities” in 1971, Outstanding Young Men In America” in 1986, Who’s Who in Entertainment in 1988, Outstanding Faculty Member in the  School of Arts and Sciences, Oral Roberts University in 1990-1991, Outstanding Faculty Member, Communication, Arts, and Media Department, 2009.
