Over the past nineteen years, Dr. Shirk has taught communication classes at Tulsa Community College and Oral Roberts University. Her research is in the area of patient compliance, and the correlation of student satisfaction, grade point average, and ethnicity. From 1995 to the present, Dr. Shirk has consulted for numerous businesses.
Dr. Shirk has served as a Practice Management Specialist for several dental-related practices as well as veterinary hospitals. Additionally, Dr. Shirk has offered one-on-one speech coaching, life-skills coaching, seminars, group facilitation, professional retreats, and needs assessments. Her seminars have covered subjects such as conflict prevention resolution, listening, and presentational skills.
Dr. Shirk has served as an adjunct faculty member in Oral Roberts University’s School of Business where she teaches Graduate Communications in Contemporary Business. She enjoys taking examples from her consulting business and seminars and applying them in the classroom. Recently, Dr. Shirk has been named the Dean of Arts and Cultural Studies at Oral Roberts University. She is excited about applying all she has learned in the business world, specifically in the areas of training and development and managing people, to leading ORU’s School of Arts and Cultural Studies. |
