Dr. Adrian Hinkle, Professor of Theology and Dean for the College of Theology and Ministry, comes to ORU with a broad history of multidimensional leadership experience from a variety of roles including Chief Academic Officer, membership on the Institution Actions Council (IAC), with the Higher Learning Commission, Federal Compliance Reviewer with the Higher Learning Commission, Executive Director of the Society for Pentecostal Studies, member of the Strategic Advisory Committee for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, and a member of the Council of Bishops and Executive Council of Bishops for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Dr. Hinkle holds a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Southwestern Christian University—graduating with honors, a M.A. in Theology from Southern Nazarene University, and a Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Wales, Trinity St. David. Her research and teaching are focused on hermeneutics, active learning theory, the construction of childhood, and the Hebrew Bible. Her publications include Pedagogical Theory of Wisdom Literature (Wipf and Stock, 2017), Pedagogical Theory of the Hebrew Bible (Wipf and Stock, 2016), “Your Church Needs More than a Monologue” in Encourage vol. 3 no. 3 (2016), and "IPHC Prayerfully Values Scripture” in IPHC 7 Core Values (LifeSprings, 2013). She has also presented papers for the Society for Pentecostal Studies, the Society for Biblical Literature, the Christian Adult Higher Education Association, and the Higher Learning Commission.

Coming to ORU in 2023, Dr. Hinkle has worked in higher education since 2003 serving in progressive roles from faculty to Vice President of Academic Affairs. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her contributions with the Faculty Scholarship Award (2012, 2016, 2017), the Teacher of the Year (2014), and the Distinguished Faculty Award (2016).

She is an active member of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church where she has served as an assistant youth pastor, conference women’s ministry board, women’s scholarship committee, church governance boards, contributing member on several of the denomination’s position papers, and contributing member of the IPHC’s Ministerial Credential Program curriculum.
